Primarily due to an increase in our expanding cruise function, we are thrilled to announce a role for a Shift Technician. If you have a passion for technical challenges and a drive to support cutting‑edge operations, we want to hear from you!
Day‑to‑Day Duties:
- Weekly pre‑work checks of cruise and operational assets.
- Berth prepping for the cruise operations, including fender, passenger boarding bridge & gangway positioning, including pre‑user checks.
- Terminal walkthroughs checking the facilities.
- Assisting the day maintenance team / other departments as business requirements allow and is required.
- Reactive maintenance port wide on assets which contribute to the smooth running of Southampton Port.
- Arrival / Departure operations of cruise ships calling to Southampton entailing the installation of passenger boarding bridges, Crew gangways, Water supply.
- Throughout the call the shift team liaise with the terminal liaison officer on a reactive basis to attend breakdowns / failures.
Skills and Experience:
- Mixed electrical and mechanical role, with a preference for electrical experience.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Ability to work at heights.
- NVQ Level 3 in an apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
- 17th or 18th Edition certification not necessary but would be desirable.
Shift Pattern:
Our shift pattern follows a 21‑day rotation cycle, which includes early or late start and finishing times, as well as weekend work. The early shift starts at 4:30 AM and ends at 1:30 PM, while the late shift begins at 1:15 PM and concludes at 10:15 PM.
