Senior Security Supervisor - Solent Gateway

Purpose

To provide safe, efficient, and service focused delivery of 24/7/365 security operations at ABP Solent Gateway Limited (SGL).

The Senior Security Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership of the security team whilst maintaining an active operational role.

You will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the SGL security operation remains compliant according to the various regulations and standards drive UKD's safety and compliance performance.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee day to day delivery of security operations at SGL, ensuring security services are delivered and adhered to as set out in the concession agreement and security plan, to include regularly reviewing performance and service delivery with the Ministry of Defence as required.
  • Manage a team of port security supervisors and officers, ensuring all operations are conducted in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Provide operational cover for security shifts at short notice, including nights, weekends and public holidays, where business needs require, to ensure the maintenance of minimum staffing levels and continuous security coverage across the site.
  • Ensure access to the port remains controlled on a 24/7/365 basis and all site visitors are suitably inducted.
  • Promptly investigate security incidents as they occur, ensuring they are appropriately conducted in an efficient, effective and ethical manner; and that liaison is maintained with the relevant police authority and external agency, as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Carry out random spot checks to ensure access control and patrol strategies are adhered to, supporting regulatory compliance requirements and internal audits.
  • Manage the operations of the port security office.
  • Carry out the duties of the Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO).
  • Be a key contact and liaise with all relevant stakeholders i. e.

Ministry of Defence, port authorities, emergency services and police (Ministry of Defence Police/ Hampshire Constabulary) as required.

  • Engaging with ABP Southampton employees, MOD and port users to foster a strong security culture that recognises local ownership of risk management at all levels and strives to deliver a safe, beyond zero-harm working environment.

You will have a proactive and collaborative approach to solving problems with excellent people skills and ability to engage positively with customers.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • In depth previous experience in a similar role in a port or maritime environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly and support a 24/7/365 operation, including covering Security Officer and Supervisor shifts at short notice when operationally required.
  • Must have or be able to achieve National Security Vetting to SC level.
  • Computer literate, experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Full clean Driving Licence.
