Eden Scott are delighted to be working exclusively with Associated British Ports (ABP) to appoint a Senior Project Manager – Onshore Wind into their Development team. This represents a unique opportunity to develop onshore wind farms within the Ports themselves. The position is perfectly suited to a seasoned Project Manager with over 5 years experience within the Onshore Wind Sector, preferably gained within a Renewable Energy Developer or Consultancy.

The Senior Project Manager will take the project from initiation through planning and handover to the construction teams. As such, experience with Consenting, Planning, Environmental Impact Assessment, Business Case Proposal and the coordination of Grid Applications would be of huge benefit. The position can be offered on a Remote working basis.

Reporting into the Group Head of Energy Generation, the Senior Project Manager will:

  • Lead ABP’s onshore wind projects (value of up to £30m)
  • Lead the full development and delivery lifecycle from initiation (if projects not yet started)
  • Delivery of other electricity/energy/decarbonisation related projects as directed by the Group Head of Energy

Accountabilities

  • Comply at all times with ABP’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Lead the delivery of ABP’s in-progress onshore wind projects through to being operational
  • Develop and own the project investment cases
  • Make the investment case to key stakeholders including regional teams and senior management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Regional and Port Engineering, Commercial, Property and Finance teams in order to appropriately deliver the projects
  • Develop and maintain appropriate external relationships in the power generation industry and equipment vendors, e.g. onshore wind turbine suppliers
  • Evaluate and lead opportunities to deliver new energy generation projects where necessary, particularly onshore wind
  • Act at all times as an ambassador for ABP

The role will require travel to project sites across ABP group, in particular the Humber, South Wales, East Anglia and Southampton.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of delivering/project managing onshore wind projects through the full lifecycle from initiation to being operational
  • Experience of evaluating and commercially leading onshore wind projects
  • Knowledge and experience of the full energy project development lifecycle from concept through to being operational
  • Strong experience at using energy asset/project valuation models in MS Excel, and explaining them to stakeholders
  • Experience of preparing, delivering and socialising formal project investment cases in order to gain investment approvals
  • Very good understanding of the onshore wind technology sector
  • Very good knowledge of the UK electricity market
  • Very good knowledge of obtaining grid connections, understanding grid connection offers and the various operational export constraints a DNO may require
  • A good understanding of UK transmission and distribution grid networks and charges
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
