We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Port Operator to join our Stevedoring Department at Immingham, one of the UK\’s busiest ports. If you have a passion for maritime operations and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!
Accountabilities
- Discharge bulk cargo from vessels on HIT 1 and HIT 2 efficiently and safely.
- Operate and maintain stevedoring equipment as required.
- Perform thorough cleaning of hoppers and IRFT, particularly focusing on wood pellets.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard to maintain operational efficiency and safety.
- Manage the loading of lorries with bulk cargo.
- Coordinate with drivers and other team members to streamline the load-out process.
- Accurately tally cargo during vessel operations, ensuring all records are precise and up to date.
- Mooring duties on terminal vessels inbound and outbound.
Note: Be prepared to be allocated work across the Humber region as needed and adapt to different operational environments and tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full UK driving (car) licence and must have own transport.
- Pro-active attitude to Health and Safety and a willingness to contribute to/improve Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Experience of working in a busy & fast paced environment with the ability to work towards set targets.
Ideal
- Ability to navigate IT equipment e.g. smart phone, handheld terminals etc
- Experience of operating plant & equipment preferably in a similar industrial environment (Crane driving and Cargo Lashing would be particularly advantageous)
The ideal candidate will be trained in Bobcat operation (or open to training, which is reviewed regularly), with plant training under ongoing review, and must be physically capable of supporting manual tasks when required.
Shift Pattern:
- 5 on, 3 off:Employees will work for 5 consecutive days followed by 3 days off.
- First Two Shifts:The first two shifts of each 5-day work period will be day shifts.
