We’re the UK’s largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports handling 46 million tonnes of cargo each year. We’re looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Supervisor to work at Port of Immingham. The role involves supervising maintenance resources to ensure assets are maintained and in compliant working order. You’ll be a qualified engineer with supervisory experience in either Mechanical, Civil Maintenance or Electrical disciplines, and will manage multi‑disciplinary teams. Experience of PLCs or crane maintenance is preferred.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ongoing management, development and training of team members in line with ABP values, including appraisals and ensuring knowledge through the Skills Matrix.
  • Direct day‑to‑day supervision of the engineering maintenance team and contractors, ensuring work practices are observed, recorded and actioned.
  • Liaise with Operations, Marine, Estates Departments and external contractors to coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and distribute safe systems of work, risk assessments, toolbox talks and daily safety briefings.
  • Plan all works in accordance with health and safety legislation, company policies and procedures, issuing permits, permissions and isolation certificates.
  • Maintain the preventative maintenance programme within the CMMS, including creating work orders for unplanned works.
  • Complete the work planning sheet to feed into the daily/weekly maintenance plan, monitor budgets with Engineering Managers and obtain best value for engineering works.
  • Monitor and progress fault reports and statutory inspections, ensuring completion; attend breakdowns during normal and out‑of‑hours shifts to provide guidance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Engineering qualification NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline (ONC/HNC preferred) with time‑served experience in heavy industry.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Budgetary awareness.
  • Safety awareness, including CDM regulations.
  • Computer skills and CMMS experience (ideally Mainsaver or SAP).
  • Full driving licence.
  • Continual improvement mindset, able to adapt ways of working.
