Due to a pending retirement we’re currently looking to recruit an Electrical Substation Inspector to inspect and test our substations around the Humber region. With around 150 substations covering our 4 ports in the region, this is a role where you’ll rely on your time served experience, technical ability and HV knowledge. You should be a time served Electrical Technician with experience of High Voltage equipment and inspection. The role is solo working and you’ll be responsible for managing your own time and does involve travel between Grimsby, Immingham, Goole and Hull.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out periodic inspections of High Voltage Substations and Low Voltage Distribution equipment across the Humber ports (Hull, Goole, Immingham and Grimsby)
  • Complete equipment asset inspection reports using a CMMS (computer maintenance management system) system
  • Identify defects and report accordingly via the equipment asset inspection reports
  • Identify, assess, and repair small defects as required
  • Carry out basic earth testing of substation earthing systems in accordance with approved procedures
  • Co‑ordinate and undertake an oil sampling regime for the HV equipment
  • Carry out all works in accordance with the relevant Safe System of Work and assist the Engineering Leads to continually review and improve the SSOW

Skills & Experience

  • Time served Electrician
  • Basic understanding of electrical distribution networks (HV and LV) and equipment
  • Computer skills (Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Driving licence
