This is a degree placement, not a permanent role, designed for undergraduates completing a formal 12‑month placement as part of their degree. The internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within the corporate communications function of a major UK infrastructure organisation in the ports and maritime sector. You’ll work closely with experienced communications professionals across corporate communications, public affairs, internal communications and events, supporting high‑impact projects that contribute to ABP’s strategic priorities, sustainability objectives and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and edit press releases, news stories, website and corporate content
  • Manage and upload content through ABP’s content management system
  • Support media monitoring, social media planning and content scheduling
  • Assist with video content creation and basic editing in line with brand guidelines
  • Help ensure brand consistency across external communications
  • Support public affairs activity, including monitoring policy developments and preparing briefings
  • Contribute to internal communications, campaigns and channel management
  • Support the planning and delivery of corporate events and stakeholder activities

About You:

Essential:

  • Currently in your 2nd or 3rd year of an undergraduate degree and able to complete a 12‑month placement
  • Studying Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Business, Marketing or a related subject
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working as part of a professional office‑based team
  • Genuine interest in corporate communications, public affairs or stakeholder engagement
  • Interest in sustainability, infrastructure, transport or public‑facing organisations
  • Experience creating written or digital content through study, volunteering or student activities
  • Basic awareness of content management systems, digital communications or analytics
