We are the largest port operator in the UK, with 21 ports around the country stretching from Kings Lynn to Troon. With a wide customer base, handling various cargoes handling over more than a quarter of all the ports industry volumes, we provide support for over half the UK’s offshore wind and catalyse investment, good jobs and prosperity in coastal communities. This is enabled in part by our Engineering teams who work to maintain and improve our equipment and assets ensuring continual availability for our Operations teams.
We\’re currently looking to recruit a Civil Engineering focused Technical Authority to set group standards, provide an official voice and represent ABP externally to technical bodies shaping industry practise. A number of our assets date back to the Victorian era, and appreciation of older infrastructure is preferred, this can include bridges, quay walls, marine structures, lock gates, road and rail infrastructure. You\’ll be responsible for developing and implementing procedures, policies, guidance and compliance to be rolled out across all our ports and further assuring the business by ensuring that the same is adopted and embedded. We\’re looking for an individual with strong influencing skills, a safety-first mindset and operational experience of developing and implementing asset management plans.

Accountabilities
• Development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Group’s asset management systems, policies, procedures and other controls in response to business need and identified risks.
• Understand external legislation & regulation, and translate into group policy/procedures, to direct regional teams to act in matters of technical safety in order to protect people and the company.
• Monitor, review and provide assurance reports relating to Regional compliance and implementation of the Group asset management policies, procedures and other controls.
• Ensure ABP remains knowledgeable in the field of asset management and is proactive in achieving continuous improvement.
• Work with the Asset Data Manager to ensure that asset master data is robust, and the scheduling and planning of inspection and maintenance interventions are to common standards across the regions, and continuously improved to meet internal and external best practice standards.
• Work with the Group Asset Management team to identify and deploy technology and innovation to support the delivery of the Group’s strategic business plan.
Skills & Experience
• Technical gravitas and technical track record in comparable high hazard industries infrastructure based.
• Proven track record of managing physical infrastructure and equipment, including performing inspection and maintenance and subsequent investment planning, in an accredited management system.
• Strong analytical ability to work with technical data and communicate the output in the form of reasoned approach.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and accredited standards.
• Leadership and influencing experience in relation to multi-disciplinary teams delivering to safety, time, cost and quality standards and targets.
• Educated to degree level in a relevant technical discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status registered with the Engineering Council and member of a relevant professional body.
You\’ll ideally be based in the Humber region (Immingham or Hull), but the role will require regular travel around the UK, and if based out of the Humber area you will need to attend those sites a couple of times a month.
