Associated British Ports (ABP) is both a major landlord and port operator with 21 port locations in the UK. Our Port of Ayr contributes £28m to the local economy, handling 340,000 tonnes of product including timber, agribulks and construction materials. We\’re currently looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Technician from either an industrial or heavy commercial background to join the small team and play a key role in the maintenance of our electrical assets across our ports in Ayr & Troon. You\’ll need to have experience of 3-phase motor driven equipment and experience of HV and mechanical assets would be an advantage. The role involves working at height, working near water and in confined spaces and is a Monday through Friday role working 0800 – 1700 (1600 finish on Friday), with some weekend and overtime work required occasionally.

Accountabilities
- Carry out daily maintenance work requirements for Engineering team and deliver high levels of compliance
- Identifying areas for improvement to ensure high levels of reliability.
- Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and communicated to the Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Resources Manager.
- Ensuring that all relevant information is recorded and analysed following completion of work orders for entry into the CMS system
- Ensure all Health and Safety & Compliance targets and objectives are met and the detail of company safety policies and procedures are maintained to the safest working environment for all employees and other Port users
- Developing a culture of continuous improvement regarding safety performance within the team.
- Ensuring that risk assessments and SSOW, and applicable safety permits are fully utilised and adhered to at all times.
- Assisting the Engineering Supervisor and local managers with the coordination of internal and external HSES inspections & audits, the completion of self-audits and the monitoring and coordination of any subsequent actions.
Key Requirements
- Time-served, ideally apprentice served, technician ideally qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in a relevant Electrical discipline
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic equipment experience within an industrial environment
- Safety focused approach to work
- Full Driving Licence to cover both Ayr and Troon
- Ability to deliver the ethos of exceptional customer service and always seeking to improve quality and service for both internal / external stakeholders.
