We're currently looking to recruit an experienced data controller, ideally with Engineering experience, into a newly created role within our Wales & Short Sea Ports engineering team. We're in process of moving between our Computerised Maintenance Management System and are looking to bring someone in to become the focal point for all engineering reporting across the region. You'll be responsible for looking after all asset and engineering data, ensuring that the documentation, maintenance records and technical information is accurate, secure, accessible and aligned with business standards.

Accountabilities

  • Maintaining data accuracy to enable timely resolution and compliance.
  • Delivering asset data tasks required by the SAP transformation programme.
  • Supporting system alignment, data cleansing, and migration readiness.
  • Centralising and maintaining asset documentation in SharePoint.
  • Ensuring secure, consistent, and auditable access to engineering information.
  • Capturing updates when assets are added, modified, or disposed of.
  • Ensuring synchronisation with local engineering teams across Wales.
  • Identifying inconsistencies, correcting gaps, and supporting validation and reporting.
  • Improving confidence in asset data for decision‑making and compliance.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing engineering or technical data within a maintenance, utilities, manufacturing, or infrastructure environment.
  • High attention to detail with strong data accuracy and data governance skills.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with cross‑functional stakeholders and support busy operational teams.
  • Strong SharePoint experience (Essential)
  • CMMS exposure - ideally Mainsaver or SAP
  • PowerBI experience (Ideally)

This is initially a 2-year Fixed-Term Contract with potential to be extended on a permanent basis. The role is based ideally from Newport, we are open to candidates from other locations - however you will need to spend 2-days per week in Newport as minimum.
