We are looking for a reliable and motivated Cargo Driver to join our team at Southampton ABP. The role involves:
- Day‑to‑day cargo handling.
- Moving vehicles on and off ships from compounds.
- Stowing and lashing vehicles securely.
Accountabilities
- Vehicle driving and other duties associated with vessel loading/discharge operations.
- Supervising and maintaining work practices with a particular focus on Health & Safety.
- Ensure customer and manufacturer requirements are maintained on both quality and standards.
- Keep updated on light/heavy lashing standards as required.
Key Requirements for the role are
- Flexible approach to work due to annualised hours and flexible working arrangements.
- Vehicle lashing and securing.
- Vehicle handling.
- Forklift truck driving.
- Previous experience in a manual-based role.
The shift pattern involves a rotating schedule with 8‑day cycles, where employees work for 5 days with the potential for up to 12‑hour shifts, followed by 3 days off. The specific shift times are communicated provisionally and then finalised before the shift starts, with the possibility of changes with a minimum of 4 hours’ notice. This pattern can also involve night shifts. The goal is to ensure adequate coverage while providing employees with regular rest periods.
