We are looking for a Building Surveyor to support the Lead Building Surveyor with estate management and commercial team activities nationally. You\’ll provide Building Surveying services to support the Property Team with transactional, maintenance, feasibility, redevelopment, refurbishment, and other building-related matters associated with ABP’s significant property portfolio.

Responsibilities

  1. Attend sites at all ports as required to complete Dilapidation, Pre-Acquisition Surveys, Condition Reports, Project Management, feasibility studies, and other Building Surveying tasks. This may be with the Lead Building Surveyor or solo depending on complexity.
  2. Assist with implementing a robust dilapidations regime dealing with tenant entry and exit.
  3. Assess, monitor, and approve Licences for Alterations.
  4. Support Reinstatement Cost Assessment, including managing outsourced suppliers, desktop assessments, and advising on building costs and indices.
  5. Manage and support procurement of external building surveying and project management advice.
  6. Assist in implementing building upgrades to meet ABP’s Carbon Neutrality goal for 2040 and comply with MEES regulations.
  7. Produce reports, emails, presentations for review and approval by the Lead Building Surveyor, and issue final reports.
  8. Support current projects, including dilapidation negotiations, specifications reviews, and consultant proposals.
  9. Assess requests for dilapidation schedules, obtain quotations, analyze responses, and recommend actions.
  10. Collaborate with property and commercial teams to identify opportunities and provide technical advice.
  11. Manage and update project trackers.
  12. Operate ABP drones for roof inspections, including pre-flight assessments and logging (training for GVC qualification available).
  13. Prepare AutoCAD drawings to support works and inspections.
  14. Access GIS Viewer for downloading leases and licenses.

Experience

  1. Enthusiastic, approachable, and able to build relationships within the property team.
  2. Good understanding and/or experience of dilapidations.
  3. Organized with attention to detail.
  4. Effective communication skills with landlords, tenants, suppliers, and colleagues.
  5. IT literate.
  6. Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritize.
  7. Team player willing to learn and collaborate.
  8. Experience in a Building Surveying Environment.
  9. Chartered status: AssocRICS, MRICS, or Chartered Surveyor.
