We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of port infrastructure in Teignmouth. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will work on a wide range of assets, helping to ensure safe and efficient port operations.

Shift pattern: The role operates on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00-14:30 and 08:30-17:00, with weekend availability required depending on operational and engineering demand.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Carry out inspection, maintenance, fault diagnostics, and installation work in line with current legislation and company standards.
  • Maintain cranes, machinery, and port equipment.
  • Maintain port buildings, including transit sheds, offices, and workshop machinery.
  • Complete scheduled servicing and report defects.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:
  • Apprentice-trained Mechanical Fitter.
  • Experience in maintenance and breakdowns within heavy industry.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience or comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
Desirable:
  • Experience with port equipment (e.g. mobile cranes, loading shovels).
  • Background in port or industrial engineering environments.
