Job description: We're currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Technician to join our team. You'll report into the Team Leader and will support maintaining port side cranes, mobile structures and fixed infrastructure. Knowledge of fault finding, using a CMMS and maintaining equipment within a live environment is key. Your background should be predominantly mechanical but some exposure to industrial electrical would be highly beneficial. The role is based on a 39-hour working week, with standard hours of Monday to Thursday 7:30am-4:00pm and Friday 7:30am-3:00pm, alongside participation in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support, where call-outs attract a minimum 4-hour payment, with additional hours paid at overtime rates.

Accountabilities:

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance works to a variety of assets such as airbridges, cranes, vehicle ramps, pumps, and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide support and mentorship to the Semi-Skilled Engineers and Apprentices in undertaking the works in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Undertake all works commensurate with both their trade and other disciplines/contractors subject to either appropriate training or ability to carry out the works.
  • Carry out pre-emptive and reactive works to ensure the key assets and infrastructure across the ports estate remain operational in response to the preventative inspection and servicing regime.
