In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the business continues to meet and exceed environmental legislation and industry standards. You will guide the region on best practice, lead continuous environmental improvements, and support strategic initiatives across the wider ABP port group. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about environmental performance, compliance, and innovation within a large, complex operational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant environmental legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance across the Humber region.
- Assist in the management of regional waste processes and provide guidance on waste reduction and compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver environmental improvement plans for the region and ABP-wide.
- Conduct audits and inspections.
- Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
- Collaborate with terminal teams, operational managers, and wider environmental colleagues.
- Respond effectively to operational demands, demonstrating flexibility where required.
- Recognised environmental qualification (IEMA/ISEP/NEBOSH equivalent or Chartered Environmentalist).
- Strong knowledge of environmental and waste legislation, including permitting (Part B, trade effluent, etc.).
- Proven post-qualification experience in an environmental role.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail; able to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience managing external relationships with regulators and agencies.
- Strong IT literacy and confident using digital systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Able to travel across ABP sites and work flexibly to meet operational demands.
- Calm, positive and adaptable in a changing environment.
- Experience delivering training, coaching and presentations.
- Demonstrates commitment to high environmental, health, safety and security standards.
- Experience using environmental management systems such as EcoOnline, Earth Sense, Greenstone, or Cority.
