As a Manufacturing Technician you will be responsible for the efficient operation of bakery plant equipment throughout ensuring it operates within high performing parameters. Therefore, job roles are not area specific but will be rotated throughout the whole plant. The role influences health, safety, environment, quality, food safety, service, cost and the efficiency of the line. This is achieved through your ability to identify issues early, communicate well with team members and resolve day-to-day issues.

Key Accountabilities

  • The accountabilities for this role are varied, spanning production, engineering, quality and hygiene.
  • Minimise Lost Time Injuries, aiming for zero.
  • Where appropriate, close out all reported hazards in 72 hours depending on severity.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all line tasks and write supporting SOP’s.
  • Identify and report and resolve any potential hazards or near misses to assist in the prevention of accidents.
  • Carry out safety walk and talks.
  • Carry out and record all required product quality checks to drive quality improvements and take timely action where product is out of specification.
  • Help to reduce customer complaints to agreed targets.
  • Follow cleaning and hygiene schedules to ensure ABSS standards are achieved to gain BRC accreditation and pass all customer audits.
  • Proactively define and pursue personal development goals.
  • Actively encourage and participate in strong interdepartmental communication and team working across all areas of the bakery.
  • Consistently display personal ownership, accountability and a 'Can Do’ attitude.

The Right Person

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate basic engineering competencies/mechanical empathy.
  • Computer Literate (understand and interact with HMI screens).
  • Demonstrate a good level of Health and Food Safety awareness.
  • Numerical, reading and information recording skills.
  • Fault finding skills.

Advantageous

  • An in-depth understanding and application of food hygiene/GMP/(ABSS standards).
  • Understanding of the baking process.
  • NVQ Level 1 or Level 2 in Performing Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH Level 2) IOSH or equivalent.
