We are proud to deliver quality products to customers every day. To help keep our fleet moving safely and efficiently, we're looking for a skilled and motivated HGV Mechanic to join our Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) team.

🚛 About the Role
As an HGV Mechanic, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and compliance of our fleet. You'll carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs to ensure our vehicles remain roadworthy and available to support our operations.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
✅ Carry out routine inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and associated equipment.
✅ Diagnose faults efficiently and undertake corrective repairs to minimise vehicle downtime.
✅ Complete preventative maintenance activities to maximise fleet reliability and performance.
✅ Ensure all vehicles are maintained to DVSA standards and company compliance requirements.
✅ Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and support ongoing compliance checks.
✅ Accurately complete maintenance records, inspection sheets, and repair documentation.
✅ Work closely with Transport and Logistics teams to ensure maximum vehicle availability.
✅ Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
✅ Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report any hazards or safety concerns promptly.
✅ Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop and VMU operation.
👤 What We're Looking For
✅ Essential Requirements
🔹 NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent qualification).
🔹 Previous experience working on commercial vehicles and HGV fleets.
🔹 Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and mechanical repair skills.
🔹 Full UK Driving Licence.
🔹 Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
🔹 Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
🔹 Good communication and problem-solving skills.
🔹 Positive, proactive, and customer-focused approach.
⭐ Desirable
🔹 HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 Licence.
🔹 Experience within a fleet maintenance or transport operation.
🔹 Knowledge of DVSA legislation and compliance requirements.
🔹 Welding or fabrication experience.
🔹 Experience working with electronic diagnostic equipment.
