We’re working with a well-established, market-leading food manufacturer with a strong heritage and reputation for quality. Supplying major retailers across the UK, they are known for their commitment to product excellence, innovation and sustainability. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Technical Manager to lead site technical operations and ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality and compliance are maintained.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you will take full responsibility for the site technical function, ensuring all products meet regulatory, customer and internal standards. You will play a key role in maintaining audit readiness, driving continuous improvement and building a strong food safety culture across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the technical and quality team, driving performance and development
- Ensuring compliance with BRC, retailer standards and food safety legislation
- Managing and maintaining HACCP systems and food safety frameworks
- Acting as the key contact for customer and third-party audits
- Overseeing complaints, non-conformances and root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement across quality and food safety
- Working closely with production, NPD and supply chain teams to ensure product integrity
- Managing supplier standards and supporting raw material compliance
- Monitoring KPIs and using data to drive quality performance improvements
About You
We’re looking for a confident and hands-on Technical Manager who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will have:
- Proven experience in a Technical / Quality leadership role within food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of BRC standards, HACCP and food safety legislation
- Experience managing customer audits and retailer relationships
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop and motivate teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
