We are looking to add a talented Chartered Town Planner with strong rural-planning experience and excellent client-facing skills to our dedicated, close-knit team. We are an independent and innovative property consultancy supporting farmers, landowners, private clients, corporates, and public sector organisations across the south of England. Founded in 2000, our multidisciplinary team works across estate management, planning, surveying, environmental consultancy, architecture, and project delivery. Our projects range from renewable energy installations and agri-environment schemes to commercial builds, rural diversification, and large-scale residential masterplans.
The Chartered Town Planner role:
- Location: Sherborne, Dorset. Office-based but with scope for some home working.
- Hours: Flexible.
- We are offering two opportunities: one full-time and one part-time, depending on your availability and preference. Both roles are suited to candidates looking to contribute meaningfully while enjoying a good work-life balance.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading and managing rural and commercial planning projects
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and associated documentation
- Supporting clients from project inception through to planning consent
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities
- Mentoring junior colleagues (for experienced candidates)
Your profile:
You will be a confident, motivated professional who enjoys working independently but thrives in a collaborative team. Ideally, you will live within 1 hour's travel of our office in Sherborne. You will bring:
- A relevant planning degree (BSc/BA)
- Experience in rural or mixed-use planning, ideally across both public and private sectors
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- A genuine interest in rural development and land-use planning
