Job Description

Role: Talent Acquisition Specialist – Engineering

Location: Leeds (On-site)

Type: 12-month FTC

About AssetCool

AssetCool is addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the global energy transition – grid congestion. By combining cutting-edge grid robotics with breakthrough materials science, our technology transforms the physical performance of the grid in situ, increasing current-carrying capacity by up to 30%, at just 5% of the cost and in a tenth of the time compared to conventional approaches.

In addition to enhancing capacity, our solutions tackle other grid constraints including corrosion, electrical noise, and enable the collection of high-value data to build accurate, predictive digital twins. This technology is proving transformative and is being adopted at an accelerating pace, with deployments across Canada, Slovenia, the UK, and the USA, and a strong global deployment pipeline.

AssetCool is a fast-growing company with plans to more than double in size over the next six months. Backed by international investors from the US, mainland Europe, and the UK, we are proud to be one of the most innovation-focused companies in the UK energy sector.

We’re looking for ambitious, mission-driven individuals who are excited to work hard alongside their colleagues to build and deploy world-leading technology that tackles some of the planet’s most urgent infrastructure challenges.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract and manage recruitment across our entire business.

You’ll handle the full recruitment lifecycle for a wide variety of positions, including some highly technical and niche engineering roles. Alongside day-to-day delivery, you’ll play a key role in reviewing and streamlining recruitment processes and systems, while supporting hiring managers to run effective interviews.

This is a very fast-paced, hands-on role with plenty of variety, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt your sourcing approach for different functions.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Delivery

  • Partner with hiring managers across all departments to scope roles, write job descriptions, and develop tailored sourcing strategies.
  • Manage the full recruitment process: advertising, proactive sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer management.
  • Source candidates for technical, engineering, operational, and business support roles through a range of channels.
  • Maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill or business-critical roles.
  • Ensure a high-quality candidate experience from first contact through to onboarding.

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Review and refine recruitment processes to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Optimise the use of recruitment tools and systems (ATS, job boards, LinkedIn Recruiter) to support better tracking and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and improved communication with candidates and hiring managers.

Hiring Manager Support

  • Coach and support hiring managers on effective interviewing, candidate assessment, and selection processes.
  • Develop and share structured interview guides and scoring frameworks tailored to role requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in recruitment or talent acquisition across multiple functions, including demonstrable success in hiring for engineering roles.
  • Skilled in recruiting for both business support and highly technical/engineering positions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with hiring managers.
  • Proficient in direct sourcing techniques, using a variety of platforms to identify and engage top talent.
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end recruitment processes and industry best practice.

Why Join AssetCool?

  • Work on groundbreaking technology revolutionizing the power grid.
  • Fast-growing startup with significant industry traction and large-scale projects.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities.
  • Competitive salary, and flexible work options
