About Us
AssetCool is a rapidly growing start-up in the Transmission and Distribution sector, pioneering cutting-edge robotic solutions for power line maintenance and upgrade. Our state-of-the-art power line coating robots can increase line capacity by up to 30% at just 5% of the cost of traditional reinforcement. With commercial projects underway across the UK, Europe, and North America, we are scaling rapidly to meet global demand and accelerate the energy transition.
We are building a future where hundreds to thousands of robots operate worldwide, enabling smarter, more sustainable power systems by reducing losses, managing noise, and extending the lifespan of critical grid infrastructure.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Production Engineer to lead and optimise the production of our next-generation robotic systems. You’ll take ownership of production processes, supervise a growing assembly team, and ensure our robots are built to the highest standards—ready for field deployment. The role will include:
- Production Management: Coordinate robotic system production by managing BOMs, workflows, and supplier inputs to support efficient manufacturing at scale.
- Process Optimisation: Identify and implement improvements to production workflows, reducing build times, errors, and rework.
- Inventory Management: Take full ownership of stock control, procurement, and supply chain coordination.
- Team Building: Recruit, train, and lead a production team as manufacturing demand scales.
- Quality & Testing: Oversee quality control (QC), end-of-line testing, and performance validation.
- Automation & Tooling: Identify opportunities for production automation and tooling improvements to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Project Management: Manage build schedules, coordinate with R&D and Operations, and deliver against tight project timelines.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Develop structured approaches to gather and analyse production data to inform engineering and business decisions.
- Compliance: Ensure all production activities meet relevant regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Feedback to R&D: Generate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to relay insights from production to product development teams.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date assembly guides, test protocols, build records, and process documentation.
- Field Readiness: Support final integration and occasionally assist in field deployment and commissioning.
Required Experience & Skills
- BSc in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a hands-on production or manufacturing engineering role, preferably in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or mechatronics.
- Proven track record of process improvement and implementing production best practices.
- Experience with inventory management, supplier relationships, and procurement systems.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performance production teams.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control practices.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical assembly documents.
- Working knowledge of production data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in robotic or automation system production.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
