Do you want to work with one of Europe’s fastest-growing startups? AssetCool is building the fastest path to more power on the grid, tackling urgent challenges in the global energy transition: grid congestion. Our technology delivers robotic grid upgrades that physically increase the capacity of existing transmission lines by up to 30%, without rebuilding infrastructure.

We are seeking a Robotics Integration Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D engineering team. This role focuses on integrating mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems into robust, field-deployable robotic platforms. You will work across the full system lifecycle - from early prototyping and lab integration to field testing and operational deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, sensing, and compute subsystems into complete robotic platforms.
  • Lead system-level integration activities, including bring-up, debugging, and performance verification.
  • Interface with mechanical, electronics, firmware, and software engineers to resolve integration issues.
  • Develop and execute integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) plans.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, compute modules, power systems, and communication interfaces.
  • Perform system troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries.
  • Support field trials and operational testing, including data collection and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to system architecture definition and interface specifications.
  • Produce and maintain system documentation, integration procedures, and test reports.

Required Skills & Experience

  • BSc or MSc in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of industrial experience in robotics, preferably in field robotics.
  • Proven industrial experience integrating robotic or electromechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of robotics subsystems: sensors, actuators, power, compute, and communications.
  • Hands-on experience with system bring-up, debugging, and fault isolation.
  • Experience working with embedded systems and low-level interfaces (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and command-line tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience integrating mobile robots, UAVs, or industrial robotic systems.
  • Background in deploying robotics systems in harsh or outdoor environments.
  • Experience supporting lab testing and outdoor/field testing of robotic systems.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with sensor fusion, perception systems, or autonomy stacks.
  • Experience with embedded programming and machine learning, C++, Python.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical or high-reliability systems.
  • Experience in wired and wireless communication for mobile robotics.
  • Experience working in a startup environment.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations and ruggedised system design.
  • Experience with test automation, data logging, and performance analysis.

Why Join AssetCool?
