IT Systems Manager sought by our client to play a crucial role during their build-phase managing IT service vendors and business application vendors within the organisation. This is a fast-paced role that will have you involved in every aspect of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT and Application management, insurance industry experience, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and an overall enthusiasm for managing technology and support solutions for the business.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- IT Service Delivery Management: Manage the work of our 3rd party Managed Service Provider for IT. This includes IT equipment and provisioning, Azure changes and updates, helpdesk & ticket management.
- Application Platform Build Management: Your first project will be helping the business build a new primary policy management system. You will work with the application vendor to ensure that the right system gets built, the right way and that it works for the business when it goes live.
- Application Platform Maintenance Management: Own the relationship with our SaaS vendors and manage these products within the organisation. You will administer our systems internally, working with vendors to troubleshoot issues. Manage tickets, requests for enhancements, and product roadmap.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance, preferably in a product development role, working as a software vendor or in a vendor management role.
- 5+ years of experience with IT Operations / Infrastructure, Systems or Network Administration, IT Support or Service Desk leadership, or Cloud or Enterprise Application support. Insurance industry experience is required, with an understanding of the language and terminology of the insurance domain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into clear and actionable requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Recommended certifications: ITIL 4, PMP, Agile.
The ideal candidate: I’ve run IT operations, managed vendors, communicated with executives, and understand the insurance business well enough that I can comfortably guide partners on building and managing systems for us.
