Job Description
Account Executive – European Business
London | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus
About the Role
We're looking for an Account Executive to join our fast-growing Contingency Insurance team in London, supporting our European business — with a particular focus on Italy. Working closely with our lead Business Producer, you'll play a key role in a niche, high-volume corner of the market: event cancellation insurance for music tours and festivals, alongside our wider contingency portfolio.
This is a hands-on, hybrid role combining documentation and account handling with a supporting broking function — preparing quote slips and MRC documentation, progressing risks through PPL, and helping the producer approach underwriters and negotiate terms. It's best suited to someone who wants to get stuck in and deliver — not just tick a box on the way to the next job title.
Our London team is small, flat in structure, and fast-moving. You'll get direct exposure to senior brokers and real client relationships from day one.
What You'll Be Doing
Documentation & Account Handling
- Prepare quote slips for European risks, incorporating risk details and coverage requirements for the producer's review
- Create MRC (Market Reform Contract) slips post-bind, handle endorsements, and issue documentation to clients and retail brokers
- Progress slips and endorsements through PPL (Placing Platform Limited), liaising with underwriters for stamps and approvals, and chasing proactively where deadlines are at risk
Broking & Client Support
- Support the producer in approaching underwriters, presenting risks, and negotiating terms and conditions
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for European clients and retail brokers alongside the producer
- Build product knowledge across the contingency portfolio, including market appetite and pricing
- Manage the terrorism binder
Pipeline & Workflow
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of the European pipeline — opportunities in development, risks out to market, quotes issued and decisions outstanding
- Track quote validity dates and subjectivities, ensuring nothing lapses without follow-up
- Issue documentation directly wherever capacity allows, acting as first line of document production for the producer's book
- Escalate clearly to the Account Handling Team where workload exceeds capacity
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 2–3 years of broking experience (or equivalent account handling / documentation / carrier-side experience with client or underwriting relationships)
- Working knowledge of MRC slip preparation and policy documentation
- Confident, professional written and verbal communication with clients, brokers and underwriters
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills, comfortable managing competing deadlines
- A proactive, self-motivated approach — someone who chases, follows up, and gets things over the line
- A hands-on, team-first attitude suited to a busy, seasonal workload (spring–autumn is our peak period)
Desirable
- Previous experience in Contingency Insurance, particularly non-appearance and event cancellation
- Italian language skills and/or exposure to European business
- Familiarity with PPL (full training provided)
- Professional insurance qualifications (CII/ACII), held or in progress
Why Join Us
- Direct mentoring from an experienced, high-performing Business Producer
- Genuine ownership of a growing European book of business
- A flat, collaborative team culture where your input is heard
- Hybrid working — 3 days in our London office, standard hours 9:00–17:30
- The chance to grow with a business that's expanding rapidly
