The Asset Protection Group ("APG") comprises of Fire Safety and Security businesses with shared ownership and one common goal. These companies operate in niche markets and focus on supplying Fire Safety services and products and Security Solutions throughout the UK.
The Bids & Tenders Manager is a newly created role that will lead and coordinate the full lifecycle of tender submissions within the Fire Life Safety & Security sector. This includes preparing compelling, compliant, and commercially viable bids for installation, maintenance, and monitoring contracts across all the services we provide. The role is critical in driving business growth through successful acquisition and retention of contracts with both public and private sector clients.
Role
- Manage the end-to-end bid process: from opportunity identification through to final submission and post-bid review.
- Interpret tender specifications and requirements related to the fire life safety and security.
- Work closely with the business units to produce tailored solutions and accurate pricing proposals.
- Write and compile persuasive and technical content including method statements, compliance documents, case studies, team CVs, and value propositions.
- Ensure all submissions are aligned with BS/EN standards, third-party accreditations (e.g., BAFE, NSI, SSAIB), and regulatory requirements (e.g., BS 5839, BS 7671).
- Maintain a bid library of standard responses, accreditations, templates, and supporting documentation.
- Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and ensure the business is prepared to deliver on the scope of the bid.
- Monitor and analyse tender portals and frameworks (e.g., BlueLight, ESPO, CCS) for relevant opportunities.
- Conduct win/loss analysis and continuously improve the bid process and win rate.
- Stay updated on industry developments, compliance updates, and competitor activity.
Experience
- Knowledge of fire & security industry sector, standards and compliance frameworks.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in bid management or tender coordination, preferably within the Fire & Security or M&E sector.
- Experience responding to tenders for public sector bodies (e.g., NHS, local authorities, education, emergency services) and large commercial contracts.
- Proven track record in winning contracts for installation and maintenance services.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with ability to translate technical detail into persuasive content.
- Commercial acumen and ability to develop cost-effective bid strategies.
- Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with bid management platforms is a plus.
