The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining enterprise infrastructure across on premises, virtualized, bare metal, and cloud environments. The role requires strong operational expertise in VMware vCenter, Linux systems, AWS cloud environments, automation, and monitoring platforms. The ideal candidate is hands on, capable of troubleshooting complex issues, making improvement recommendations, and working independently while providing clear reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure and Virtualization
- Administer and support VMware vCenter environments
- Manage virtual machine lifecycle including provisioning, maintenance, migration, and decommissioning
- Perform OS rebuilds and bare metal provisioning using Rebar
- Maintain infrastructure stability, availability, and performance
- Operating Systems
- Advanced Linux administration including troubleshooting, patching, hardening, and performance tuning
- Windows Server administration and operational support
- Perform system upgrades, rebuilds, and recovery activities
- Cloud Support
- Provide operational support for AWS cloud environments
- Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, performance, networking, and access issues
- Monitor cloud resources and recommend improvements for reliability, security, and cost efficiency
- Support hybrid infrastructure environments
- Infrastructure as Code and DevOps
- Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and updates
- Experience with GitLab and CI CD pipelines
- Maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure as code deployments
- Automate operational tasks and repetitive processes
- Networking and IP Management
- Strong working knowledge of Infoblox
- Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, IPAM, routing, and firewall fundamentals
- Troubleshoot on premises and cloud networking issues
- Storage and Backup
- Understanding of enterprise storage concepts
- Experience with Commvault for backup and recovery operations
- Support backup validation, restoration, and disaster recovery processes
- Monitoring and Incident Management
- Experience with Datadog, BigPanda, xMatters, Grafana, and Cribl
- Respond to alerts, perform incident troubleshooting, and conduct root cause analysis
- Recommend operational improvements based on incident trends
- Tools and Process
- Use Jira for incident, change, and request tracking
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
