About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised In-House Travel Consultant to establish, manage, and optimise our global corporate travel function. This is a unique opportunity for a travel professional who combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational expertise.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing travel management systems, policies, processes, and supplier relationships while managing day-to-day international travel arrangements for employees, executives, clients, and business partners.
This role requires a proactive individual who can build an efficient travel programme from the ground up, drive cost savings, improve traveller experience, and ensure seamless global travel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Travel Programme Development
- Design and implement the company's corporate travel management framework.
- Establish travel policies, approval workflows, and governance procedures.
- Evaluate, select, and implement travel booking and management platforms.
- Develop reporting, compliance, traveller tracking, and travel risk management processes.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all travel-related activities.
- Build relationships with airlines, hotels, travel technology providers, and other travel suppliers.
Travel Operations Management
- Manage all domestic and international travel bookings, including flights, accommodation, ground transportation, visas, and travel insurance.
- Coordinate complex multi-country itineraries and executive travel requirements.
- Monitor travel schedules and proactively manage disruptions, cancellations, delays, and emergencies.
- Provide travellers with destination-specific information, entry requirements, and travel advisories.
- Ensure compliance with company travel policies and budget requirements.
Supplier & Cost Management
- Negotiate preferred supplier agreements and corporate rates.
- Identify opportunities to reduce travel spend while maintaining service quality.
- Monitor travel expenditure and produce regular management reports.
- Track supplier performance and recommend improvements.
Travel Risk & Compliance
- Maintain awareness of global travel regulations, visa requirements, and entry restrictions.
- Implement traveller safety and duty-of-care procedures.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders regarding travel risks and emergency response protocols.
- Ensure compliance with relevant corporate, financial, and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all travel-related enquiries.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and Executive teams to support business travel needs.
- Deliver training and guidance on travel systems and processes.
- Continuously improve traveller experience through feedback and service enhancements.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate travel management, business travel consulting, or travel operations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing travel management systems, processes, and policies.
- Strong knowledge of international travel logistics, airline fare structures, visa processes, and travel regulations.
- Experience managing complex international itineraries and executive travel.
- Excellent supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with travel booking and management platforms.
Desirable
- Experience establishing an in-house travel function from scratch.
- Knowledge of travel risk management and duty-of-care programmes.
- Familiarity with corporate expense management systems.
- Relevant travel industry certifications.
