To £44,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits. New Leaf Search has partnered with a specialist captive finance company in its search for a Credit Underwriter.
Location: UK, Nottinghamshire (Hybrid).
Role
The successful candidate will join a small, dynamic credit team responsible for independently assessing moderately complex and higher-value asset finance proposals in line with established credit policies, procedures and risk appetite. You will provide expert underwriting decisions while supporting strong dealer and partner relationships, contributing to portfolio performance and risk management. The role includes occasional customer and dealer visits and opportunities to mentor colleagues and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess asset finance proposals through detailed financial analysis, including cash flow, balance sheet strength and profitability.
- Approve, decline or recommend credit decisions in line with delegated authority and company risk framework.
- Review existing portfolio exposures and authorise additional transactions within agreed limits.
- Conduct customer and dealer engagement to strengthen relationships and support credit decisions.
- Promote asset finance products, systems and processes to dealer partners.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to internal staff where appropriate.
- Support partners with financial documentation and resolve operational queries.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in asset finance underwriting or corporate credit underwriting within a banking environment.
- Strong financial analysis capability and understanding of accounting principles.
- Commercial judgement balanced with sound risk awareness.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
- Degree in Business, Management, Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
Applicants must be based within commuting distance of Langar due to hybrid working requirements. We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly Asset Finance and Leasing. You will also require relevant IN-COUNTRY experience; without which, your application will NOT be considered.
