This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to join an established, global leader in specialist engineering. Based primarily at a facility in County Durham, you will be working on behalf of our client to provide dedicated technical expertise and drive innovation in automated test development.

You will report directly to the Senior Electronics Test Engineer and play a pivotal role in the design, development, and validation of custom automated test equipment (ATE). This is an autonomous, on-site position that requires a confident practitioner capable of managing the full test lifecycle while collaborating with wider engineering, NPI, and quality teams. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the design, development, and validation of custom automated test equipment (ATE) and bespoke fixtures.
  • Create and optimize test sequences using LabVIEW and Python to enhance automated data capture and analysis.
  • Contribute to the New Product Introduction process through test specification design, PFMEA activities, and failure analysis.
  • Provide expert fault-finding support for both complex electronic products and internal diagnostic rigs.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, manage firmware version control, and produce detailed test reports for stakeholders.
  • Deliver technical guidance and training to the technician team to ensure continuous improvement in production testing.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:ESSENTIAL
  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BEng) or a relevant discipline.
  • Proven background in a Test Engineering role specifically within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong proficiency in LabVIEW for instrument control and system automation.
  • Competency in Python for automating test routines, data processing, or system interfacing.
  • Experience in database-driven data acquisition (SQL) and a structured approach to hardware troubleshooting.
  • A proactive problem-solver who communicates clearly and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
DESIRABLE
  • Proficiency in text-based languages such as Python, C#, or C++.
  • Familiarity with modern automation trends, including the use of LLMs or advanced software tools to accelerate application development.
  • Experience with firmware programming and version control protocols.
  • Knowledge of APQP/SPQP frameworks and reliability engineering principles.
