Assan Panel UK Ltd is part of the Kibar Group and operates a newly established manufacturing facility in the Ipswich-Stowmarket area.
As we continue to develop our UK operations, we are looking for a proactive, hands-on and experienced HSE professional to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities at our UK manufacturing site.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and wants to take ownership of HSE standards, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement across a growing production facility.
The successful candidate will work closely with the UK Site Management and employees, while also coordinating with the Group HSE function and Head Office in Turkey.
The role will have a strong on-site and operational focus , requiring regular interaction with employees, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that high standards of health, safety and environmental performance are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
- Take day-to-day responsibility for Health & Safety matters at the UK manufacturing site.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's HSE policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UK Health & Safety legislation, regulations and company requirements.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety observations and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor and follow up on HSE actions to ensure timely completion.
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and other HSE events, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents, inspections, risk assessments and other HSE activities.
- Coordinate and support Health & Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across the site and encourage employee engagement in HSE matters.
- Monitor the safe working practices of employees, contractors and visitors.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response and contingency procedures.
- Liaise with relevant external bodies, consultants and service providers where required.
- Support internal and external HSE audits, inspections and certification activities.
Environmental
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day environmental management activities at the site.
- Support compliance with applicable UK environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the company's Environmental Management System.
- Monitor environmental aspects and impacts associated with site operations and recommend appropriate controls.
- Maintain environmental records, documentation and compliance information.
- Support waste management, recycling and environmental improvement initiatives.
- Monitor environmental performance and follow up on identified actions.
- Support environmental inspections, audits and regulatory visits.
- Work closely with the Head Office HSE team on environmental requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
ISO & Management Systems
- Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the site's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems .
- Maintain relevant HSE documentation, procedures, records and registers.
- Coordinate preparations for internal and external management system audits.
- Follow up audit findings, non-conformities and corrective actions.
- Ensure that HSE-related procedures and documentation are effectively communicated and implemented across the site.
- Prepare regular HSE reports and updates for UK management and Head Office.
Site & Contractor Safety
- Monitor HSE compliance of contractors working on site.
- Support contractor selection, induction and ongoing HSE monitoring.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments and method statements are in place where required.
- Monitor site conditions and ensure that appropriate safety controls are maintained.
- Work closely with production and site management to ensure that HSE requirements are integrated into day-to-day operations.
- Provide practical HSE advice to managers and employees.
About You
We are looking for a hands-on, proactive and practical HSE professional who is comfortable working directly within a manufacturing environment and taking ownership of HSE activities.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently, identifying risks and driving practical improvements while also working closely with the UK management team and Group HSE function.
This position is open to candidates who already have the unrestricted right to work in the UK . Assan Panel UK Ltd does not offer visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants who require current or future visa sponsorship to work in the UK will not be eligible for this position.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety, HSE, SHE or EHS role.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, production, industrial, engineering or similar operational environment .
- Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Practical experience in risk assessment, workplace inspections and incident investigation.
- Experience coordinating HSE training, inductions and safety awareness activities.
- Experience working with contractors and managing contractor HSE requirements.
- Experience with environmental management and compliance.
- Experience supporting or managing ISO management systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 .
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to communicate confidently with employees, managers, contractors and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, practical and solution-oriented approach.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The ability to identify potential risks and take appropriate action.
- A willingness to work hands-on within a manufacturing and production environment.
Desirable
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification.
- IOSH membership or relevant professional HSE accreditation.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 .
- Experience with UK environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience supporting external audits, inspections and certification processes.
- Experience working with international or multicultural teams.
- Turkish language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
