We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Analyst to support our Legal & Compliance team in London. This role plays a key part in maintaining and enhancing Assala’s compliance framework, with a strong focus on third-party Integrity Due Diligence (IDD), regulatory monitoring, and compliance governance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Monitoring & Research
    • Track regulatory developments relevant to the business and assess impacts and update the internal intranet accordingly.
    • Prepare concise regulatory briefings for senior stakeholders.
    • Maintain regulatory logs and update the compliance horizon-scanning mechanisms.
  • Policy & Procedure Support
    • Assist in drafting, updating, and distributing compliance policies and procedures.
    • Maintain version control and coordinate internal reviews.
    • Maintain Legal and Compliance policy tracker.
  • Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
    • Conduct routine compliance monitoring activities including sanctions screening, monitoring changes in law and following up on agreed actions.
    • Prepare and maintain trackers on the status of third-party due diligence files, sanctions confirmations, and the IDD renewals audit process.
    • Review compliance data to develop custom risk-analytical reports and provide insight in decision making.
    • Manage the quarterly sanctions confirmations procedure.
  • Third Party Due Diligence & KYC Reviews
    • Independently manage Stage 3 – Compliance Review for Assala Energy UK and Gabon as part of Assala vendor onboarding process.
    • Conduct and review integrity due diligence (IDD) assessments for new and existing vendors, and provide risk ratings (low, medium, or high) based on defined criteria.
    • Demonstrate the ability to identify pertinent issues within submitted IDDQs, and through thorough IDD be able to reduce and mitigate risk.
    • Draft and track mitigation plans for high-risk third-party vendors, where necessary.
    • Maintain internal third-party tracker and provide weekly and monthly updates to the relevant internal teams.
    • Maintain a structured collaboration process with the Contracts & Procurement department.
    • Manage the due diligence renewal process for existing vendors.
    • Train and provide guidance on the due diligence process to internal departments.
    • Review and update due diligence processes to ensure alignment with relevant legislation.
    • Assist in review and response on KYC requests.
  • Training & Awareness
    • Help develop mandatory compliance training materials and short courses and coordinate end-to-end delivery.
    • Help develop and deliver targeted internal compliance trainings.
    • Track training completion metrics and follow up on outstanding training.
    • Update the internal Legal Calendar quarterly.
  • Compliance Initiatives and Administrative Support
    • Contribute to key compliance initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
    • Support and develop the Compliance Ambassadors initiative.
    • Assist with onboarding compliance requirements (e.g., checks, certifications).
    • To aid in all departmental administration including PR and PO processes.
    • Support Senior Legal Counsel on tasks and projects, where necessary.
  • Data Protection
    • Provide support to Assala’s Data Protection program, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, international relations, political science, regional studies, business or related area of study.
  • Previous experience in using Nexis Diligence specifically and knowledge of other similar platforms to conduct third-party due diligence.
  • Meticulous with strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent research, and analytical skills, including the ability to quickly and concisely summarise complex issues.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in French, whilst not essential, would be beneficial.

Additional Information

Occasional travel to Gabon may be required.
