Assala Energy is a dynamic Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company committed to the sustainable development of its assets in Gabon. We value a collaborative approach, promote diversity, and prioritize safety and integrity in all our operations.

Assala was established and has grown through acquisition hence all our assets are aging assets. While these assets benefit from operational experience, they present challenges such as limited corrosion allowance, degrading equipment performance, changing fluid composition, and stringent emissions regulations. Addressing symptoms provides short-term relief but often fails to resolve root causes, leading to recurring issues. To tackle these challenges, we need an experienced and pragmatic professional to provide process engineering services for our sites to diagnose problems and propose effective solutions.

Your deliverables will include:

  • Familiarisation with the design and peculiarities of each asset.
  • Carry out an investigatory visit to each site, interfacing with the OIM and operators to identify the current operating challenges.
  • Develop a SMART (Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time specific) framework for addressing the identified challenges with priority given to the safety and production output related challenges.
  • Propose pragmatic and feasible solutions.
  • Facilitate required tests to confirm the feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Present and communicate findings and proposals to stakeholders.
  • Interface with the process team in Gabon or London to develop selected solutions.
  • Assist the Gabon process team with operational support activities as and when required.
  • Report to the London office on activities carried out as and when required.
  • Interface with other disciplines in the development or execution of proposed solutions.
  • Assist operations on high priority process challenges, as defined by safety and production output requirements.
  • Assist with process optimization of each asset.
  • Assist with operations-related technical input on projects as and when required.
  • Provide a pragmatic and progressive approach towards resolving any showstoppers or issues that may arise.

The consultant will be required to occasionally travel to our sites in Gabon.
Full scope of work with deliverables and objectives will be made available during a technical validation meeting.

Requirements:

  • Process Engineer with 10+ years\’ experience in late life assets and in the Process / Petrochemicals Industry and/or onshore/offshore oil & gas is required.
  • Proficiency in both French and English.
  • Track record of generating and implementing \”out of the box\” pragmatic and safe solutions to process engineering problems.
  • Operational site experience.
  • Good practical working knowledge of process software, especially Unisim for process simulation.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of international standards.
