The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market presence across European territories. This role focuses on securing new business opportunities within verticals that utilize secure issuance ID card printers, including Government, Health, Education, Corporate, Security Integration, Installers, Entertainment, and Retail.
The position requires an initiative-taking approach in building relationships, identifying new business channels, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure business success.
As our Business Development Manager, you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Developing and executing business development plans that expand HID FARGO Secure Issuance market share and deliver agreed revenue, pipeline, and activity targets across assigned European territories and priority verticals.
- Identifying, engaging, and building relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within government, healthcare, education, corporate, security integration, entertainment, retail, and other strategic markets.
- Generating new opportunities through targeted outbound activity, campaigns, events, referrals, partner engagement, and direct prospecting.
- Building, qualifying, and maintaining a robust sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up, clear next actions, realistic close dates, and appropriate handover to Regional Sales Managers or channel partners.
- Working directly with Regional Sales Managers across Europe to develop territory priorities, progress strategic opportunities, reactivate dormant accounts, and support achievement of regional growth plans.
- Identifying tenders, projects, replacement cycles, competitive conversions, and specification opportunities at an early stage; coordinating internal and partner resources to improve win probability.
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with distributors, resellers, system integrators, installers, OEMs, and technology partners, creating opportunities that support the channel rather than conflict with it.
- Supporting joint business planning, account mapping, demand-generation activity, and partner enablement to increase coverage, capability, and sales productivity.
- Developing strong knowledge of the HID FARGO Secure Issuance portfolio, customer applications, competitive alternatives, and relevant industry trends to position differentiated, value-led solutions.
- Conducting customer and partner presentations, discovery sessions, webinars, product demonstrations, and pre-sales discussions in collaboration with product and technical specialists.
- Identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities across printers, consumables, software, services, support, integrations, and credential-lifecycle solutions.
- Maintaining accurate and current account, contact, lead, activity, opportunity, and forecast information in Salesforce; supporting disciplined qualification, pipeline governance, and reporting.
- Providing regular reports on activity, pipeline progression, lead conversion, market intelligence, competitor activity, risks, and forecast outlook to the Sales Director and Regional Sales Managers.
- Collaborating with Marketing, Product Management, Technical Support, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, and Logistics to resolve barriers, improve the customer experience, and progress opportunities through to order and revenue recognition.
- Representing HID professionally at customer meetings, partner reviews, trade shows, industry events, and association meetings across Europe.
- Monitoring agreed commercial and activity KPIs, taking ownership of corrective actions, and continuously improving prospecting, qualification, conversion, and partner-development effectiveness.
- Operating in accordance with HID policies, ethical standards, data-protection requirements, pricing governance, and channel rules, escalating commercial, legal, technical, or delivery risks promptly.
Education/Experience:
- At least three years’ experience in business development, inside sales, account management, or a comparable commercial role.
- A demonstrable record of achieving sales targets, building qualified pipeline, and contributing to revenue growth.
- Strong capability in prospecting, lead qualification, consultative selling, and relationship management.
- Experience working with distributors, resellers, system integrators, end users or other channel partners.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain technical solutions clearly.
