An Amazing Career Opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer in Cardiff, UK. This is a role as a senior engineer in our software team focused on development and maintenance of React applications. The ideal candidate will work alongside UX teams to provide the user interface to manage our devices.

You will be part of the PACS (Physical Access Control Systems) business area, with product lines including smart cards, mobile access and identifications, software, services and controllers for physical access control. This is a hybrid role based in Cardiff, UK. Our current hybrid working model allows 2 remote days per week.

As our Senior Software Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:

  • Being responsible for developing a user interface while maintaining a great user experience for tools that manage complex technologies.
  • Working closely with designers, product managers, and other developers to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Contributing to code reviews and ensuring high code quality and standards.
  • Having strong written and verbal communications in English (as work will be multinational).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science) or demonstrative equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript and modern JavaScript features (ES6+).
  • 5+ years of experience in professional front-end development, with a focus on React JS.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Legally eligible to work in the UK.
  • Proficient in CSS, SCSS, and Tailwind CSS for crafting modern, responsive web designs.
  • Experience with UI libraries (e.g., Radix UI, shadcn/ui) for building consistent and scalable UI components.
  • Hands-on experience with Tanstack Query (formerly React Query) for data fetching, caching, and synchronisation in React applications.
  • Proficient in implementing React Router for managing dynamic client-side navigation.
  • Experience with writing React unit tests.
  • Experience using integration/end-to-end test suite tools like Playwright or Cypress for flow testing.
  • Understanding of test principles: Unit/integration/e2e Separation of concerns/isolation.
  • Solid understanding of REST API integration and experience working with third-party APIs.
  • Experience in integrating and handling webhooks for real-time data updates and event-driven architecture.
  • Strong understanding of web performance best practices and optimisation techniques.
  • Experience working with Git version control, and collaborative tools.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices and tools (e.g., Jira).
