DevOps Associate Manager in Cardiff

As Associate Manager DevOps, you will help drive the team formation, implementation and maintenance of a robust CI/CD pipeline within HID PACS. This is a wide-ranging role, bridging the functions of the DevTest and Development teams.

You will lead the establishment and continuous improvement of a sustainable DevOps framework, delivering scalable CI/CD-enabled test environments that accelerate release cycles, improve release predictability, and support reliable software delivery.

• Enhanced Collaboration and Efficiency: DevOps promotes a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams, leading to better communication and fewer bottlenecks. Cross-functional teams share responsibilities for development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

As our DevOps Associate Manager, you’ll support HID’s success by:

• Able to design and implement a wide range of testing techniques to support a scalable and automated CI/CD environment.
• Monitor and triage CI/CD pipeline test failures.
• Design, build and document new CI/CD infrastructure for new features.
• Able to identify and liaise with teams to identify test gaps.
• Able to communicate test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Able to project manage and use technical leadership to achieve a team result.
• Contributes to project and product planning discussions.
• Understands how the product under test operates as part of a wider system.
• Able to liaise with the Program team prior to feature development to flesh out requirements required for new tests.
• Plans and scopes for new functionality test requirements.
• Able to make decisions regarding the Test Environment.
• Coaches/mentors others at a technical level.
• Able to raise defects with the business and help prioritize them based on severity.
• Able to research, plan and train others within the team.
• Able to deliver technical reports.
• Actively contribute to customer escalations.
• Champions TDD methodology and leads stakeholders in its implementation.

Education and/or Experience:

• Engineering degree or equivalent, or suitable experience.
• Minimum of +7 years of related industry experience.
• Familiarity with infrastructure management and monitoring tools.
• Awareness of developer operations platform tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab, Gradle, Snyk, SonarQube, DefectDojo, Ansible, Yocto-Cooker, Ant, Maven, NPM, Nexus, Docker, Terraform, AWS DevOps Services (as examples).
• Familiarity with documentation standards and practices with a developer operations focus.
• Good presenting and communication skills, good judgment, analytical ability.
• Experience in building and maintaining good working relationships with both external and internal parties.
• Strong IT skills and knowledge including hardware, software, and networking.
• Ability to work on complex tasks without technical guidance.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
• Knowledge of various test/development methodologies such as TDD, BDD, Acceptance Testing and Unit Testing.
