Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands...

Reporting to the Managing Director, DS Security Group UK, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Human Resources for the Self-Storage Business Area, the HR Generalist serves as the primary day-to-day HR contact for DS Security Group UK and provides hands-on HR support across the Self-Storage Business Area as needed. The HR Generalist works closely with UK business leaders, managers, employees, Finance, and the broader HR team to ensure consistent HR operations, practical application of company policies, alignment with UK employment practices, and a positive employee experience. The role requires sound judgment, strong execution, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with appropriate independence in a small business-unit environment.

Key Responsibilities in Your Role...

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employment documentation, contract variations, background checks, reference management, system updates, and employee communications.
  • Own HRIS administration for the UK business, ensuring employee data accuracy, timely updates, and reliable reporting across HR and payroll systems.
  • Own payroll-related HR activities, including data validation, payroll submissions, time and attendance review, payroll change documentation, employee payroll queries, and coordination with Finance and payroll providers.
  • Administer employee benefits, including pension, private medical insurance, death in service, employee enrolments, qualifying life events, employee inquiries, provider invoices, renewals, and service coordination.

Employee & Manager Support

  • Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employee and manager HR-related questions, support requests, and day-to-day people matters.
  • Provide practical guidance to managers and employees on HR processes, company policies, performance management, goal-setting, probation, absence, conduct, capability, and employee development processes.
  • Support employee relations matters, including documentation, meeting preparation, investigations, absence management, disciplinary and grievance administration, follow-up actions, and escalation of complex or higher-risk matters to HR leadership.

Compliance & Employment Practices

  • Support compliance with UK employment legislation, company policies, internal HR processes, and applicable Group standards.
  • Partner with HR leadership and Finance to support audit readiness, payroll controls, right-to-work documentation, employee record compliance, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Coordinate immigration and sponsorship administration where applicable, including documentation, compliance checks, renewals, and liaison with internal or external stakeholders.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, workflows, documentation, controls, and operational efficiencies; involve the appropriate stakeholders and see improvements through completion.
  • Support implementation of new HR processes, systems, tools, and operational initiatives across the UK business and broader Self-Storage Business Area as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support business needs, employee experience, compliance, and scalable HR operations.

Talent Management & Acquisition

  • Partner closely with the Talent Acquisition team to support effective, timely, and compliant recruitment activity across the business.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, helping ensure clear role requirements, timely feedback, a fair selection process, and a positive candidate experience.
  • Support internal mobility, succession planning, performance management, and employee development activities as directed by HR leadership.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global and regional HR teams to support broader HR initiatives, projects, and opportunities for alignment across the Self-Storage Business Area.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees, managers, local leadership, external providers, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support annual performance management, compensation planning, organizational updates, employee data reviews, and other recurring HR cycles.
  • Act as the trusted local HR resource for day-to-day employee and manager support within the UK business, while escalating complex, sensitive, or high-risk matters appropriately.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience operating as an HR Generalist, HR Advisor, HR Officer, or similar hands-on HR role.
  • CIPD Level 3 required; CIPD Level 5 preferred or working toward completion.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment practices, HR administration, employee lifecycle processes, and practical manager guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting employee relations matters, including absence, performance, conduct, disciplinary, grievance, and investigation processes.
  • Experience administering payroll, benefits, pensions, employee lifecycle changes, and HRIS/payroll system updates.
  • Ability to operate with appropriate independence in a small business-unit environment while escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, recurring deadlines, and sensitive HR activities effectively.
  • High attention to detail, strong process orientation, and sound judgment in handling confidential employee information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build credibility with employees, managers, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word; HRIS/payroll system experience required.
