Working Pattern: Part-time – Fixed days (Monday & Wednesday) + additional days at month start and mid-month
Sunray Engineering Limited is a leading specialist manufacturer and installer of steel and timber security and fire doors, along with associated products including louvre panels, solid panels, access hatches, and enhanced blast and ballistic protection solutions. We supply a diverse customer base across the UK and worldwide.
We are now looking to strengthen our Accounts team with the appointment of a Group Payroll / Finance Assistant, based at our Ashford office.
About the Role
This role will primarily focus on weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations, internal bank controls, and payroll procedures. You will also provide support across the wider finance function, particularly during periods of holiday cover. The role is predominantly two fixed days per week (Monday & Wednesday), with additional days required at the beginning and middle of each month to support monthly payroll processing and HMRC end-of-month reporting. The role shall also require additional days/hours to cover periods of holiday within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day financial procedures across the business, including:
- Payroll processing
- Bank control
- Payments and pension administration
- HMRC compliance (VAT, CIS, payroll submissions)
- Customer prepayments
- Customer overpayments
- Goods received not invoiced
- Work in Progress accounts
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a similar Payroll / Finance role
- Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel (essential); Sage experience is desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines consistently
