The Opportunity
We’re recruiting for a board-level National Sales Director to lead and shape the commercial strategy across the UK & Ireland for a market-leading manufacturer within the built environment.
With an already significant presence and a strong product offering across national merchants, contractors, M&E installers, architects, and designers, this is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with this part of the business generating over £75m in annual sales, and the wider company over £100m with ambition to increase heavily over the next 3-5 years.
This role is about more than just revenue — it's about setting direction, driving excellence, building capability, and executing a clear, long-term strategy.
You’ll join the Executive Leadership Team, with full ownership of UK & Ireland sales performance and a central role in shaping business growth over the next 3–5 years.
What We’re Looking For
We need an exceptional leader.
Someone who can inspire, develop and manage a senior sales team — including Managers and Regional Directors — and who thrives in a performance-led environment.
This is a role that demands strategic clarity, strong planning skills, and a leader who holds their team accountable.
We're open on background — whether you're from bathrooms, interiors, HVAC, plumbing, or wider building materials, what matters most is your ability to operate at pace, lead with impact, and deliver growth through people, process, and vision.
This role also includes a long-term incentive scheme with company shares, designed to reward impact and leadership at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and deliver the national sales strategy across UK & Ireland, aligned to wider board-level objectives.
- People
Leadership: Manage, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales function of a large team of direct and indirect reports, embedding a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ambition.
- Commercial Planning: Set KPIs, lead forecasting and budgeting, and ensure structured sales plans are in place across all regions and verticals.
- Market Development: Expand presence across commercial projects, working closely with contractors, specifiers, consultants, merchants, and distributors.
- Customer Excellence: Build a high-touch, value-led service experience that enhances customer retention and long‑term loyalty.
- Board Engagement: Regularly present commercial performance, strategy, and future plans to the Managing Director and Board.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Marketing, Operations and Finance to align activity and support the delivery of commercial goals.
- Innovation & Change: Champion continuous improvement and embrace sales enablement tools and digital transformation to stay ahead of industry shifts.
- What You’ll Need
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role, ideally with full UK&I scope and responsibility for a significant revenue base.
- Exceptional leadership skills — able to lead leaders, create clarity, and hold teams to a high standard of performance.
- Strong commercial insight and the ability to build strategies from data, insight, and market trends.
- A track record of delivering growth across multiple channels, including contractors, merchants, installers, architects, and specifiers.
- Excellent communication and board-level presentation skills.
Experience
- Background in piping, bathrooms, HVAC, interiors, plumbing/heating, or wider construction products.
- A track record of driving growth with M&E contractors, Main Contractors, Architects, Design Consultants, Merchants and Specialists across the construction sector
- Strong personal network across national merchants and the construction supply chain.
- Experience using CRM and sales performance systems to drive structure and reporting.
Why?
- Be part of a high-growth, innovation-driven manufacturer with ambitious plans for UK expansion.
- Play a critical role on the Executive Leadership Team.
