The Role
As Technical Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing both new and repeat business across the region. Your core focus will be working closely with contractors, installers, and merchants to promote the full product range and secure long-term project partnerships.
This is a cradle-to-grave sales role. You’ll drive contractor engagement, deliver product training, provide technical advice on-site, and work in close partnership with internal teams to ensure projects run smoothly from tender to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management & Growth – Manage and grow a defined customer base (approx. 75% existing relationships, 25% new business).
- Contractor Development – Build trust and become the go-to partner for small to large contractors working across commercial schemes.
- Merchant Support – Work with national and independent merchants (approx. 30% of your client base including BSS and Wolseley), ensuring staff are trained and stocked with your product lines.
- Technical Support & Training – Deliver regular training sessions to ensure correct product installation and usage on-site.
- CRM & Project Reporting – Maintain accurate records of all contact, calls, pipeline activity and wins using the CRM.
- Project Ownership – Support from concept through to completion, working closely with internal spec teams to convert leads into secured orders.
- Market Awareness – Keep an eye on competitor activity and contribute insight for marketing and sales development.
The Ideal Candidate
- You’ll have a background in a technical or sales background, ideally in piping, plumbing, HVAC, pumps, or drainage. (Certainly open to other industries)
- Confident engaging with contractors, installers, and trade counter teams.
- Strong understanding of project sales cycles and contractor buying behaviour.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to train, influence and add value on-site.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role with full regional ownership.
