The Opportunity
We’re working with a fantastic manufacturer operating internationally. The business is entering an exciting phase of change, with significant investment and a clear growth strategy — particularly within the Social Housing channel, which is now a key development area. This role has arisen due to retirement and represents a genuine opportunity to take ownership of an established territory currently generating circa £2.5m turnover, with strong scope to grow beyond this.
You’ll manage a portfolio of existing key accounts while also being responsible for developing new relationships and winning additional projects across the region. The territory covers the South West and South Central, broadly from Birmingham down, across to Northampton, and through to Southampton.
Role Overview
As the Key Account Manager for Social Housing, you will be responsible for driving new and repeat business across the Social Housing sector, working closely with:
- Local Authorities
- Housing Associations
- New Build developers
- Main Contractors
- M&E Contractors
- National Merchant partners
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll manage social housing projects from early specification through to order, building strong relationships with all key stakeholders and ensuring opportunities are effectively tracked and converted. This is a critical commercial role, with a clear expectation to grow sales year-on-year while protecting margin through effective tender negotiation and internal collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure new specifications with Local Authorities and Housing Associations across the region.
- Position the business as a preferred partner to contractors, installers, and frameworks.
- Drive opportunities through Social Housing Framework agreements and ensure quarterly commitments are achieved.
- Work closely with national merchant partners and their social housing teams to convert specified business.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across contractors, merchants, frameworks, and end clients.
- Build and execute a clear territory plan identifying target accounts, stakeholders, and short- and long-term opportunities.
- Use market intelligence tools to stay informed on customer activity and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing on project wins and case studies.
- Work alongside Estimating and Finance on tender submissions to ensure commercially sound outcomes.
- Manage your territory effectively, including journey planning and activity levels aligned to agreed targets.
