POSITION SCOPE
The successful candidate will have responsibility for replacing, upgrading and maintaining the Company’s control systems, as well as designing and implementing control systems for new capital projects.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Replace/upgrade and maintain control and instrumentation, hardware and software whilst ensuring refinery operations perform as required.
- Communicate with all levels of refinery personnel to ensure understanding of changes to the legacy control systems.
- Provide specialist instrumentation knowledge to the refinery for new capital projects.
- Experience of European machine safety standards and hazardous area installations.
- Supervise contractors and project engineering resources during installation and commissioning.
- Provide operational support of existing control systems and control infrastructure to minimise production downtime.
- Evaluate changes/upgrades to process control systems and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the definition of standards for the development and maintenance of process control systems within the refinery.
- Focus on Continuous Improvement and Quality Improvement as required.
- Provide mentorship to team members.

LOCATION OF ROLE
- Thames based, with travel to other Group locations in Europe as required.
ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES
- Excellent understanding of control system and networking hardware, particularly Allen Bradley along with a range of process control tools and techniques, preferably Siemens, Allen Bradley, Wonderware ArchestrA.
- Good experience working within processing operations.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum HNC, Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Excel, Word).
- Ability to speak with a high level of professionalism and presence to individuals or groups at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to anticipate problems before they occur to eliminate or mitigate issues.
- Good written skills and ability to provide documentation.
