4 on days, 4 off, 4 on nights, 8 off.

POSITION SCOPE

To efficiently operate plant within the Refining Area, ensuring the required safety, quality and environmental standards and production targets are achieved.

  • DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate the plant in line with Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring the required safety, quality and environmental standards and production targets are achieved
  • Utilise the plant computer systems to ensure efficient plant performance and to interrogate the systems for deviation of process parameters taking appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Make adjustments to plant and processing conditions when appropriate, making timely decisions based on all available data in order to optimise the plant.
  • Ensure compliance is maintained towards all aspects of Safety, Quality and Environmental where feasibly practicable, and liaising with others such as the Console Operator where corrective action or further assistance is required.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and tested and report faults in a timely manner to achieve established conditions for the optimisation of energy, water and steam usage and minimisation of sugar loss.
  • Comply with safety systems, such as Task Based Risk Assessment, Permit to Work, Hot Work Permit and Confined Space Permit in all relevant safety related tasks
  • Develop detailed Work Instructions or TBRA’s to be used to improve performance and safety in the area, for training of other personnel and standardisation of operating procedures between crews
  • Work together with colleagues in the area as a small and responsive team, supporting Operators with resolving issues, sharing workload and reporting to ensure efficient operation.
  • Work within the wider, multi-disciplinary Refinery team in order to develop the plant by accurately fault finding and proposing meaningful Continuous Improvement projects and Route Cause Analysis.
  • Maintain shift logs and clearly communicate handover information of plant information, including deviations, changes and issues within Process team
  • Carry out plant remedial works including cleaning, clearing and correct assembly to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Perform tasks and treatments in the work environment to the required safety, quality and hygiene standards.

ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERINCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Verbal and written communication skills to provide production updates, and accurately describe problems, causes and solutions
  • IT competent to monitor and operate equipment using control systems, and to input and access data
  • Ability to independently fault find and problem solve
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate data leading to decision making
  • Knowledge of safety, environment, hygiene and quality considerations applicable to refinery operations
  • Positive and proactive contributor in a team environment
