ASR Group is the world’s largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar. With over 150 years of experience, ASR Group specializes in taking sugar cane from the field to the table. We are the largest vertically integrated cane sugar refiner globally, with nine refineries across five countries capable of producing over six million tonnes of sugar. OVERVIEW

The Quality Technologist acts as the primary quality contact at the refinery, responsible for reporting and following up on daily issues to identify deviations and trends, and participating in site-wide action groups as needed.

The role involves initiating quality improvements using industry best practices, supporting the Quality Assurance Manager and team, building relationships with factory teams, and embedding quality practices within the Thames site. The Technologist will collaborate with various functions within T&L Sugars factory operations and customer relations.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review daily quality information and represent quality in operation meetings.
  • Complete accurate daily reports.
  • Manage incidents, including quick risk assessments of potential quality and food safety issues.
  • Drive improvements in Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Participate in internal audits, traceability exercises, and GFSI and third-party audits.
  • Complete quality sign-offs and participate in site trials.
  • Develop and ensure Food Safety work permits are in place.
  • Conduct GMP audits and Gemba walks as scheduled.
  • Maintain an up-to-date HACCP plan in collaboration with the HACCP team.
  • Manage customer relations, including queries and audit findings/CAPAs.
  • Promote continuous improvement in the site\’s quality culture.

WORK EXPERIENCES

Experience in a factory-facing quality role, preferably within the sugar or food industry, with exposure to customer interface as a supplier to industry or retailers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related discipline, or equivalent. Knowledge of Food Safety and Quality systems like HACCP and Root Cause Analysis, internal audit skills, and strong communication and organizational abilities are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, with desirable knowledge of SharePoint, Redzone, and SAP software.
