The purpose of this role is to carry out chemical testing and analysis to ensure product quality, safety, and compliance with defined specifications and quality standards. The role is accountable for generating accurate and reliable analytical data to support operational processes, quality assurance, and informed decision‑making across the business. This includes ensuring that all testing activities are performed in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, in line with established laboratory procedures and quality management systems.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical analysis, effluent monitoring to sewer and river water accurately and efficiently.
- Provide timely, reliable QC data in full compliance with SHHEQ standards, laboratory procedures, and quality management systems.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve analytical discrepancies, escalating issues where required.
- Ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and maintenance of high‑quality, auditable records.
- Support and participate in GMP audits within process and packing areas and accompany management on safety audits.
- Operate in accordance with safe systems of work, including TBRA, COSHH, and incident reporting frameworks.
- Accurately input analytical data into SAP and SharePoint systems, ensuring integrity, traceability, and accessibility of information.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and operations teams.
- Work effectively under pressure to meet operational and reporting deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment, including supporting GMP inspections and audits.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
- Support shift laboratory and microbiology activities as required, including providing cover for shift operations where necessary.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.
Work Experiences
- Previous laboratory experience is essential (titrations, reagent preparation, UV‑Vis analysis…)
- Basic understanding of working in a laboratory, manufacturing, or quality‑controlled environment.
- Experience working with quality systems such as ISO or BRCGS.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: GCSEs (or equivalent), including Mathematics and Science.
- Preferred: A‑levels (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related science subject.
