We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Shadow Teacher to provide one-to-one support for a 7-year-old autistic boy within a school environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism, a strong understanding of individualized learning strategies, and the ability to foster an inclusive and nurturing educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored educational and behavioral support to the child during classroom activities and transitions.
  • Facilitate effective communication, using strategies such as visual aids, social stories, and sensory integration techniques.
  • Assist with social interactions and help the child engage with peers in a structured, supportive manner.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher, special education team, and parents to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other specialized learning strategies.
  • Adapt lesson materials to meet the child’s learning style and developmental needs.
  • Support emotional regulation and encourage self-advocacy skills.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to parents and educators.
  • Create a safe, positive learning environment tailored to the child's sensory and developmental needs.
  • Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, and other professionals involved in the child’s development.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Educational Background: Degree or certification in special education, psychology, child development, or a related field.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is preferred.
  • Skills: Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Ability to use assistive technologies and alternative communication methods.
  • Familiarity with sensory regulation techniques.
