About Ribble Autism School

Ribble Autism School is an independent specialist school for children and young people aged 4-11 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our pupils all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and our provision is built around communication, emotional regulation, independence and foundational learning.

Our provision is underpinned by the SCERTS Framework, integrated therapeutic support and a commitment to enabling every pupil to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Through personalised pre-formal and informal curriculum pathways, pupils are supported to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence and lifelong learning skills, ensuring meaningful progress from their individual starting points.

As our school continues to expand we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified teacher who has successfully completed their ECT induction period and is committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of autistic children and young people.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning, delivering and evaluating engaging, personalised learning programmes tailored to individual EHCP outcomes and pupils' identified needs.
  • Using our pre-formal and informal curriculum pathways to design meaningful learning experiences that support progress from each pupil's individual starting point.
  • Working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, to embed therapeutic approaches throughout the school day.
  • Supporting and developing pupils' communication, social understanding, emotional regulation and independence through autism-informed practice.
  • Using assessment systems and evidence, including curriculum and EHCP outcomes, to monitor progress and inform next steps in learning.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of our specialist autism curriculum, SCERTS-based practice and personalised provision.
  • Leading and championing a curriculum area in line with school improvement priorities.
  • Delivering high-quality CPD and sharing best practice to support the professional development of colleagues.
  • Leading, coaching and managing teaching assistants to ensure consistently high-quality provision.
  • Building positive and effective relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Contributing fully to the wider life of the school and the continuous improvement of outcomes for all pupils.

We're looking for someone who has...

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A recognised undergraduate degree
  • Successfully completed ECT induction
  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism and SEND
  • A commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice
  • High expectations for all pupils
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, resilient and reflective approach

It would be great if you also have...

  • Experience working within an autism specialist provision
  • Knowledge of the SCERTS Framework
  • Understanding of sensory processing and regulation approaches
  • Experience of working alongside therapists and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience supporting pupils with complex communication need
