Aspris Telford School are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join our Education team! We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within the site and their grounds. This position is 5 hours per week which can be on a bank or permanent basis.

Aspris Telford School is an independent day school, located in an attractive semi-rural setting just a short walk from the historic town of Ironbridge. The school provides education to 14 young people between the ages of 11 and 18, who present with a variety of SEN including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and autism. Ours is a small school with a big heart. Members of our team are all committed to providing a positive and nurturing experience to our students, most of whom have had very negative experiences of school before coming to us.
Main Duties:
- Maintains a well decorated, safe, and comfortable environment throughout, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations
- Ensures that Aspris minimum standards are delivered in all unit areas in a timely and efficient manner, as part of a team
- Identifies and reports damage, faults, and other related issues to line manager (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations
- Undertakes regular internal and external patrols of the unit and its grounds, ensuring that all the windows and doors are closed and locked as appropriate to the time of day
- Deals with any potential acts of disturbance, vandalism or theft within the grounds, reporting these and any other untoward or suspicious incidents to the manager in charge
- Maintains an accurate record of all incidents and suspicious activities within a logbook
- Acts in a manner consistent with the Aspris image, policy, and procedures, ensuring that the units, milieu is maintained
- Adopt new services that are already introduced within Aspris
- Use equipment efficiently, in order to gain a greater value for money
