We're looking for a commercially focused HR Advisor to join a partner-led organisation operating across multiple sites in Derby and Northampton. This is a hands-on generalist role for someone who enjoys variety and autonomy, and who takes a pragmatic, advisory approach to HR. You'll work closely with managers and senior leaders, providing clear, practical advice on employee relations, recruitment and people management across a workforce of around 200 staff. Reporting to the Head of HR, you'll be trusted to manage HR cases end-to-end, support organisational change, and help managers make confident, well-judged people decisions. This role will suit someone with experience in a multi-site or consultancy environment who is comfortable balancing commercial priorities with sound employment practices. CIPD Level 3 is essential, Level 5 is desirable. There is regular travel across sites. If you want an HR role where you can make an impact, build strong relationships, and avoid the constraints of a heavily bureaucratic environment, we would love to hear from you.

- HR Advisory and Case Management: Provide pragmatic HR advice to managers on employee relations matters, including attendance, performance, conduct, capability and grievances. Manage HR cases from start to resolution, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes. Draft and maintain HR documentation, letters and records to a high standard.
- Manager Partnering and Consultancy-Style Support: Build strong working relationships with managers and senior leaders, acting as a trusted HR point of contact. Support managers with day-to-day people challenges, offering clear options and commercially sound advice. Coach managers to improve confidence and capability in people management.
- Recruitment and People Lifecycle: Support recruitment activity, including advising on role design, job descriptions, adverts and selection processes. Advise on contracts, variations, probation, onboarding and exits. Support workforce planning and organisational change activity as required.
- Policy, Risk and Best Practice: Apply HR policies and procedures in a practical, proportionate way. Ensure people decisions are legally sound and aligned with business priorities. Contribute to the review and improvement of HR processes and ways of working.
- Projects and Continuous Improvement: Support HR and business projects, including restructures, growth and service changes. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve the HR service offer.
Person Specification
- Qualifications: CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards it.
- Experience: Broad generalist HR experience, including hands-on employee relations casework. Experience in a consultancy, advisory, multi-site or fast-growing organisation. Experience supporting organisational change or business transformation. Healthcare experience is welcome but not required.
- Knowledge/Skills: Confident advising managers directly and handling sensitive situations. Strong working knowledge of UK employment law. Comfortable working across multiple sites and managing competing priorities. Clear, professional communicator with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
