Injection Mould Toolmaker / Toolroom Engineer

Salary: £43,243.49£47,675.95 per year

Aspired Talent is recruiting an experienced Injection Mould Toolmaker for a permanent position with a leading global packaging manufacturer in Blackburn.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Toolmaker to join an established toolroom team within a modern manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will support injection-moulding production through tool maintenance, repairs, fault diagnosis and precision manual machining.
The Role
The Injection Mould Toolmaker will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving injection-mould tooling to minimise downtime and ensure consistent production quality.
Key responsibilities will include:
Maintaining, repairing and modifying injection-mould tools
Diagnosing tooling faults and production issues on the shop floor
Working with injection-mould tools incorporating hot-runner systems
Completing planned, preventative and reactive tool maintenance
Stripping, inspecting, cleaning and rebuilding mould tools
Identifying worn or damaged tool components
Manufacturing and repairing precision components
Operating manual centre lathes and milling machines
Completing surface-grinding and universal-grinding work
Working accurately from technical drawings and specifications
Measuring components using appropriate precision inspection equipment
Supporting tool trials and resolving issues before production release
Working closely with production, engineering and maintenance teams
Recording repairs, modifications and maintenance activity accurately
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe toolroom
Supporting continuous improvement and tooling-reliability initiatives
Managing workload independently during periods without breakdowns
Essential Experience
Applicants should have:
Previous experience as an Injection Mould Toolmaker, Mould Toolmaker or Toolroom Engineer
Practical experience maintaining and repairing injection-mould tooling
Experience diagnosing tool faults within a manufacturing environment
Strong manual machining skills
Experience using manual lathes and milling machines
Surface-grinding and universal-grinding experience
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
A proactive, reliable and safety-conscious approach
Experience working with hot-runner systems is highly desirable.
A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant Toolmaking or Mechanical Engineering qualifications would be preferred.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
Day shifts
40 hours per week
Overtime, including occasional weekend work, may be required according to business needs
Training and Development
The successful candidate will complete a structured three-month training period on the day shift. Ongoing support and development will be provided to help them become fully familiar with the tooling, machinery and production environment.
