Van Lining Fitter – Day and Back Shifts Location: Blackburn, BB1 Pay: £13.00–£17.28 per hour Hours: Monday to Thursday – four-day working week Job type: Full-time Aspired Talent is recruiting Van Lining Fitters for a leading manufacturer of temperature-controlled and refrigerated commercial vehicles in Blackburn. Full-time opportunities are available across both the day shift and back shift. Shifts and pay rates Day shift Monday to Thursday, 6:30am–4:30pm £13.00–£14.40 per hour Back shift Monday to Thursday, 4:30pm–2:30am 4:30pm–10:00pm: £13.00–£14.40 per hour 10:00pm–2:30am: £15.60–£17.28 per hour, including the back-shift premium The back-shift premium is paid only for hours worked between 10:00pm and 2:30am. Hours worked before 10:00pm are paid at the applicable standard rate. Starting pay and progression to the higher fully trained rates will depend on previous experience, successful completion of training and passing the required competency assessments. Overtime Up to six hours of overtime is paid at time and a half Overtime exceeding six hours is paid at double time About the role As a Van Lining Fitter, you will install lining and insulation systems into commercial vehicles, ensuring a high standard of workmanship, safety and quality. You will work with materials including plywood and insulation, completing standard and bespoke vehicle conversions to meet individual customer specifications. Key responsibilities Installing lining and insulation systems into commercial vehicles Measuring, cutting and fitting plywood, insulation and other materials Using hand and power tools safely Working from technical drawings and fitting instructions Completing bespoke fitting work to customer specifications Checking completed work against the required quality standards Identifying and reporting faults or defects Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Following all health and safety procedures Supporting continuous improvement across the production department Candidate requirements Previous experience in van fitting, vehicle conversions, joinery, carpentry, assembly or a similar practical role is desirable An NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or Carpentry would be beneficial but is not essential Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Experience using hand and power tools Good practical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team A quality-focused approach to work Physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and moving materials weighing 20kg or more Comfortable standing for extended periods Full training will be provided. Applicants with transferable skills from joinery, carpentry, kitchen fitting, vehicle assembly, coachbuilding or general manufacturing are encouraged to apply. A short practical skills assessment will form part of the interview process. Pay progression The starting rate and progression within the advertised pay range will be determined by: Relevant experience and qualifications Existing practical and technical ability Successful completion of training Passing the required competency assessments Successful completion of probation Ability to work independently to the required quality and productivity standards The highest rates apply to experienced, fully trained fitters who have successfully completed the required training and assessments.
